Somewhere around the beginning of this century, the Turkish Chess Federation had big plans to promote chess at school and in national and international competitions, including Military Chess. Due to conscription, Turkey regularly has a pool of strong players who can compete for stage prices. Military Chess is funded by the national Chess Association with the requirement that the team should compete for the podium prices. In the past, members of the team got months of extensive training before taking part of the NATO Chess tournament. One of the many mile stones was the hosting of the NCC tournament in 2007, and the golden team medals in the NCC 2008 and 2011 tournaments. After a long break, a new pool of players took part at 2023, not ending to the stage. A second try at 2025 resulted in the 3rd golden team price.
